Fox at IES-Bhopal(16/10/2015)

Hello,
This blog post is about the the recent event conducted at IES-BHOPAL(http://www.iesbpl.ac.in) on 16-10-2015.
Previously there were many attempts to conduct an event in my college but it failed, this  was for the first time that Mozilla was present in my college.
I(Satyadeep bhardwaj)boarded my college cab at 8:30am and moved to pickup Vaibhav sir(ReMo) and vishesh but unfortunately due to some miscommunication Vaibhav sir was late by 10 minutes, therefore meanwhile what i did is that i collected the Posters from Naveen(Mozillian),Meanwhile Vishesh(FSA) and Vaibhav sir were ready at there pickup points we picked them up and moved to receive Rahul(ReMo) and Prince(FSA) around 9:10am we received them at 9:30am.The best part of this was that we were running short of time so we called Rahul and Vishesh at a common pick point which indeed saved our time and we reached the college at 9:50am.The event was to begin by 10:00am.
During the event we were a team of 5 people.

1.)Vaibhav Bajaj(Fx-OS app dev)
2.)Rahul Talreja(General Introduction)
3.)Satyadeep Bhardwaj(SUMO-Top contributor)
4.)Vishesh Aalwani(FSA)
5.)Prince jain(FSA)

Finally Rahul started with general introduction about Mozilla and its Mission, and contribution pathways,FSA programme and its benefits,he also provided insights about the Open source movement created by Mozilla, the students were really very enthusiastic and responsive this can be recognised with a number of request at  fb community groups.
Firstly i am very happy to be a TOP Contributor in SUMO for the past 2.5 months with 2000+ contributions and having received appreciation from Mark Schimdt(SUMO head of MOZILLA).
Later after the first session i took the mic to guided the students about there contribution in SUMO through the different platform and importance of SUMO.

At 12:15 pm we did our lunch and planned to resume by 1;45pm,we were now more focussed on the practical session,we were alloted 2 labs with a sitting capacity of 120 students.Rahul and Vaibhav sir each started with the FxOS app development in there respective labs with Vishesh and Prince as there volunteers respectively.I(Satyadeep Bhardwaj) was taking care of the management and query resolvement. Some of them had great ideas but that couldnt be implemented due to internet issues, but still we somehow managed to complete the registrations of FSA and WEBMAKER.
We also managed to  download Firefox in the localized languages supporting the
Firefox-Hindi campaign.
Last but not the least students were informed about the different tools of Mozilla and they also had a hands on s with X-ray goggles,Webmaker etc.Club was inaugurated with the understanding of how to complete the (CLT process etc) and by mutual decision of Mentors I(Satyadeep Bhardwaj) was chosen as the Club Lead, people were mesmerized to see the RANGOLI as it was awesome. With  a group photo session we ended up the event at 2:30.

Lastly i would like to Thank my mentor(Rahul Talreja) and Senior(Vaibhav sir),College mangement for making it a successful event.

Mozilla Awareness Day(3/10/2015)....

This post is regarding the event conducted in Oriental college of technology on 3rd of October 2015.
It was 2nd October and we were continuing with the Localization Hackathon being organised on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. Meanwhile we took and short break and confirmed the materials we had given for printing(Id Cards,Posters),now we were all set for the event.
I woke up early,it was a bright sunny day...i was very excited about the event as it was my 3rd event all together.
I was gearing up for the event and was ready by 9am and was in regular contact with Aditya Shah(Club lead FxOriental ) as he was to receive us(Rahul Talreja ,Vaibhav Bajaj,Vidit Sharma,Me).

The Team included:
Rahul Talreja(REP)
Vaibhav Bajaj(REP)
Satyadeep Bhardwaj(SUMO-Top contributor)
Vidit Sharma(LOCALIZATION)

The event started at sharply 11am,followed by welcoming Rahul Talreja and Vaibhav Bajaj with a bouquet, followed by lightning of lamp and Saraswati Vandana.

The session started with Rahul introducing himself and his team,Mozilla and its Mission was discussed in detail ,also explaining the hierarchy existing within Mozilla. They were also provided insights regarding Open Source(introduction) and other Open source projects.

They were told about the contribution areas like:
  • Webmaker
  • Womoz
  • Localization
  • Geo Stumbling
  • SuMo
  • Marketplace
  • Bugzilla, etc
It was an interactive session as the students were from the First year, full of zeal and energy ,they were very ethusiastic to learn about Mozilla. There were questions put for the students and swags were distributed for every single answer.

I was also overwhelmed by the response of the teachers who were also present there till the end of the session encouraging students to clear there queries and be more interactive.
After the end of session we were moving out for lunch and we came across a beautiful Rangoli of Firefox logo.

After the lunch session was resumed and we moved to the computer labs,we distributed ourselves evenly as there were 3 computer labs to see if everything goes .The agenda was App Development for Firefox OS, hands on Webmaker, and made the students learn about Thimble, X-ray goggles, etc, and made the register themselves on webmaker.org.

Aditya,Rahul and Vaibhav sir continued with there sessions on FxOS app development using HTML,CSS,JAVASCRIPT. I and vidit moved in and out of the labs clearing the queries and doubts of the students altogether.Meanwhile we also told them about etherpad and its advantages, students were very amused by its utility.
Due to shortage of time and net connectivity issues students were not able to make there apps,we asked them to have there hands-on at there home and if facing any difficulty contact us.

Finally we recruited Firefox Student  Ambassadors by making them signup on fsa.mozilla.org, about 100+ students signed-up .
Lastly we winded up the session with a group photography with the Director(Oriental).
Last but not the least i would like to thank my mentor(Rahul Talreja) for giving me this opportunity to share and learn.

Hello,

As soon as i reached the college premises i was amazed to see the the rangoli of firefox at the entrance gate, there were 2 labs in total with an accomodation for 150-180 students.

Aditya shah took a session on FSA programme giving an introduction about it,benefits, how to get enrolled in the program and on spot recruitements of FSA's.

Vidit being a rank holder in Localisation took a session on it and guided the students by giving examples and motivating them to contribute in this field.

After this Alisha and Rashmi leaded over there session of WoMoz they were successful in making all female participant understand how beneficiary it is for a female candidate to work in technology and be an part of this awesome open source moment.
At 2 P.M we went for lunch and returned back at 2:30.
Resuming session the best part was that the 100% attendance the labs were again compact with enthusiastic students and this also proved that we were successful in creating an interest among them for Mozilla.
Kushagra varade(apps expert)started the session on application development giving an insight about the process of browser development and initials about HTML,CSS and JAVASCRIPT.
